Preserve, enhance, innovate. These are the three ways chosen by the 10th edition of Loppianolab, the national laboratory of economics, culture, communication, education and innovation, to confront the current socio-environmental crisis experienced by the Planet and also by our country.
Explains Fausta Giardina, of the event's preparatory committee, "These three words-keep, enhance, innovate-are our proposal for dealing with the emergency we are in, which evidently is not only given by climate change but involves our development model, values and our entire culture. The program, as usual, is constructed as a dialogue, a dialogue between stage and audience, between experts and participants. With a privileged space for the voice of young people who, on stage, will stimulate the experts with their questions."
On the morning of Saturday, Oct. 5, the way of "stewardship" will be explored in depth with: Antonello Pasini, a climate physicist at Roma Tre University and CNR collaborator; Francesca Boldrighini of the Colosseum Archaeological Park; and, connecting from Toronto, Jennifer Nedelsky, a sociologist at Osgoode Hall Law School (York University).
The path of "valorizing" will be traveled through the experiences: of prof. Andrea Segrè, professor of international and comparative agrarian policy at the University of Bologna and promoter of the Last Minute Market social initiative for the recovery of unsold food and non-food products within solidarity circuits; of Valeria Tozzi and the Social Cooperative "Oltre l'Arte Matera," created to valorize the historical-artistic heritage of religious character of the Matera territory; by Marco Bartoletti and BB Holding with its courageous inclusive recruiting procedures; by Augustin Cabezas, head of the Argentine Northwest (NOA) Sustainable and Solidarity Tourism Project.
Then, the afternoon of Loppianolab 2019 will open with the proposal of an original experience in the nature of the International Citadel of Loppiano: a "story trek" led by Pietro Isolan, of Rural Academy, a network of enthusiasts who, through activities in the fields and gardens, proposes an educational experience of ecological agriculture in contact with the earth, trees, and animals. "Story trekking," explains Pietro Isolan, "is a format that combines storytelling with an immersive experience in nature. The story, the fairy tale have an extraordinary power, they lead us to see, to imagine with the eyes of the soul. Nature also has a great power, that of taking us back to our origins and being able to compare human events with extraordinary and powerful patterns and metaphors, the natural ones. By walking we put into motion resources that our bodies possess. All this produces excitement and well-being, the perfect conditions for learning, and making new knowledge our own."
Alternatively, a seminar sponsored by the Political Movement for Italian Unity, entitled: "Democracy in Cities, Democracy of Cities," will be held in the Auditorium. Speakers will include Giulia Mugnai, mayor of Figline and Incisa Valdarno; Stefano Cardinali, of the Association of Cities for Fraternity; Giampietro Parolin, economist from I. U. Sophia; Raffaele Scamardì, of Saxa Grestone Anagni; and Silvio Minnetti, of the Political Movement for Italian Unity.
Next, the path of innovation will be traveled through the testimonies of Francesco Mondora, of Mondora Srl, Achic Lema, an indigenous Ecuadorian researcher, and Pierlugi Sacco, IULM economist.
