Valdarno Jazz is turning 20 , and to celebrate, it has expanded its outreach, including 3 dates in Figline for the first time.
The first event in town is set for Friday, March 16, when, starting at 9:30 p.m., "My favorite songs" by the Valdarno Jazz Collective, a musical project composed of Daniele Malvisi, Gianmarco Scaglia and Paolo Corsi, will be staged at the Ridotto del Teatro Garibaldi (Piazza Serristori). On the setlist, in addition to original songs signed by Daniele Malvisi and Gianmarco Scaglia, will be some reworkings of famous themes from the jazz repertoire. Each piece will be a springboard for improvisation, for a dialogue of interplay, of absolute rhythmic vigor.
It will be repeated on Wednesday, March 28, at 9:30 p.m., again at the Garibaldi Redoubt, where Mirko Pedrotti's listening guide entitled "The vibraphone between written and improvised notes" is scheduled. It consists of an analysis and a roundup of pieces signed by the instrument's masters, which will be alternated with live practical demonstrations.
Finally, on Thursday, March 29, the Ridotto will host the Mirko Pedrotti Quintet, a project created in 2013 by the Trentino vibraphonist of the same name, accompanied by Lorenzo Sighel (alto sax), Luca Olzer (fender rhodes and synthesizer), Michele Bazzanella (electric bass) and Matteo Giordani (drums). Many are the matrices and contaminations that influence the group's production: jazz, minimal, rock, progressive, classical music, elements that coexist together and create a contemporary and distinctive language. The catchy groove, polyrhythms and the refinement of timbral mixtures are the main features of this lineup, which already in its early days gained important recognition.
