It is called "Girls in 1968," and it is the initiative organized at Casa Petrarca (Benassai-Incisa Square, 6:15 p.m.) by the Single Guarantee Committee of the Municipality of Figline and Incisa Valdarno for March 8, on the occasion of Women's Day.
This is a meeting that will feature two groups of women from Figline and Incisa, ready to testify to the momentous changes that took place during that historical period, especially for the female universe. The first group to speak is composed of women who, in 1968, were between the ages of 21 and 30: they are Franca Della Nave (one of the first mayors of Tuscany and the first citizen of Figline from 1978 to 1980), Bruna Cerri (a university student at the time, who will then speak about school education and training), Diana Salvucci (a housewife, who will testify to the condition of women in that historical period and speak about its evolution over time) and Corinna Pieri (a former manager of a credit institution, who will speak about the role of women in the working world in those years).
The second group, on the other hand, consists of women who were between the ages of 12 and 17 in 1968 and who, therefore, lived through those momentous changes and benefited from their legacy. They are Vanna Amorosi (former city councilor and former alderman of Incisa in the 1980s), Antonella Bianchi (founder of Figline's first women's scout group), Rosalba Manenti (exponent of Figline's first feminist collective), Daniela Grazzi (former factory manager), Stefania Montigiani (former factory worker) and Carmela De Berti (of the focolare movement, who will speak about the evolution of women's roles in the religious sphere).
Opening the meeting will be the Mayor of the City of Figline and Incisa, the Councillor for Culture and the President of the Single Guarantee Committee, Elisabetta Bargilli.
Also present will be the students from the Valdarno high schools participating in the school-to-work alternation project entitled "School to Theater," promoted by the City and the Conkarma association to bring young people closer to Theater and, in general, to Culture. During the course of the afternoon, students will read some fact sheets on the historical context of 1968, so as to contextualize the female testimonies that are the subject of the meeting and provide insight into various social aspects of the era.
This will be followed by an apericena, which will be offered by the municipality to all those present.
