On Saturday, Nov. 24, at 5 p.m., the Culture Group of Il Giardino Social Center, in collaboration with the Semmelweis Literary Circle, organized an initiative to remember Figlinois poet Eugenio Centini 30 years after his death. After various health problems and while he was still hospitalized, Centini wrote some poems, which were later included in a collection entitled "Ten Poems from the Hospital."
In 1974, when he had already undergone leg amputation surgery and while hospitalized, he met Gabriele Bonechi, brother of theartist Lorenzo, who was impressed both by his zest for life and by the verses he wrote. He then decided to ask Lorenzo himself to illustrate the ten poems and personally edited the release of the booklet, which will be precisely the medium through which Centini will be remembered Saturday afternoon, with readings by some of the participants and testimonies from all those who knew him. The appointment is at the social center (Dalla Chiesa Gardens, Figline).
