It concludes on Monday, June 17, at 9:30 p.m. the Alchimie youth theater festival, which again this year saw five Valdarno theater workshops confront each other on the prestigious stage of the Garibaldi Theater, both in and out of school with productions that involved young people aged 15 to 25.
The festival, now in its 11th year, has become a competition for the past few years, with the intent not only to stimulate mutual acquaintance and expressive growth of the various groups, but also to contribute prize money to the annual workshop activity.
Alchimie was included in the project "It's not culture for old people" that was funded by the Fondazione CR Firenze for the 2018 call for proposals "Nuovi Pubblici," through which it seeks to promote the approach to the world of theater, music and dance of the younger generation by triggering the falling in love with these arts that becomes fundamental to creating precisely new audiences, including for the future of our beautiful theater.
This year's Golden Leorso will be divided into two categories, with a cash prize of 500 euros each: for the best theater workshop conducted within the school and for the best theater workshop conducted outside the school environment.
This year's small Leorso sculpture was created by young artist Andrea Ceddia of the Florence Academy of Fine Arts, a previous winner of the 2018 "Lorenzo Bonechi" award.
During the evening, in addition to the award ceremony, there will be a meeting with actress Chiara Cappelli, who will present a small theatrical sequence for solo voice from the play L'Eretica directed by Angelo Castaldo, in which the young actress from Valdarno, who saw her passion for theater born precisely from the school workshop, will be able to tell the children about the difficulties and hopes of those who, like her, have decided to follow this path by making her passion a profession.
The evening will feature a video summary, created by Blanket Studio, of all the shows in the review enhanced by comments from the young actors interviewed immediately after the performance.
Finally, the foyer of the Garibaldi Theater will feature a photo exhibition with photos of the shows in the review by the Arno Photographic Circle And Foto D'arte Lab.
The jury consists of:
DIMITRI FROSALI - director and current artistic manager of Arca Azzurra Teatro.
ISABELLA VALORIANI - creator and organizer of the review "Factory Europe"
SERENA NADDI - theatrical costume designer
CIRO GALLORANO - director and coordinator of the company "Cantiere Artaud"
CARLO MENICATTI - contact person for Conkarma" of the Alternanza Scuola Lavoro project on theater.
ANGELITA BORGHERESI - review coordinator.
This year's award will be dedicated to the memory of Valerio Valoriani playwright and director who passed away in November 2018, who in recent years followed Alchimie as president of the technical jury, enriching the festival with his contribution of expertise and professionalism.
