Entitled "Sensate Experiences and Certain Demonstrations," it is the third of six shows in the "Alchemy Theater" review scheduled for May 25 at the Garibaldi Theater (Serristori Square, Figline) to promote youth productions.
The next event is set for 9:30 p.m., with a performance loosely based on the play "Life of Galileo" by Bertolt Brecht and brought to the stage by the theater workshop of the"G. Vasari" High School Institute.
Much like the original work, the central theme of the play remains the conflict between science and culture in the 17th century, beginning with the Counter-Reformation and the Church's reaction to Galileo Galilei's discoveries. The story is set between Padua, where Galileo resided when he worked for the Studio della Serenissima, Florence and Rome, and focuses on the highlights of the Pisan scholar's experience, including the period of his abjuration and retirement to Arcetri.
Performers taking the stage will be Silvia Ottaviano, Allegra Fabrizi, Leonardo Pieraccioli, Sara Braschi, Sereen El Debuch, Andrea Arnetoli, Matteo Piccolo, Letizia Iacuzzi, Giulia Martini, Yuri Neglia, Laura Cardile, Lapo Chiostrini and Gianni Magherini. It is directed by Paola Brembilla, with Cristina Bianchi engaged as assistant director. The script and adaptation of the text, on the other hand, were handled by both Paola Brembilla and Edoardo Venuti.
The next scheduled performance in the playbill of "Theater Alchemy 2017" is "The Magnificent. Killer Cats," by the theater workshop of the Company l'essere, scheduled at the "Garibaldi" for May 29.
