Day two, tomorrow Nov. 12, of Autumnia 2016, the event that will run through Sunday in downtown Figline on the themes of agriculture, environment and food.
Saturday's day begins at 11 p.m. with the opening of all booths (until 11 p.m.), while at 9:30 a.m. the conference "Laudato Si, Mi Signore, Per Sora Nostra Madre Terra. Cultivate and Care for the Common Good," by the Diocese of Fiesole at the Polo Bonfanti in Burchio in Incisa.
Instead, at 10 a.m. there will be the long-awaited opening of the livestock area, which throughout the fair will host many animals, educational workshops, demonstrations, and games for children. Also scheduled at 11 a.m. is a meeting at Figline's Palazzo Pretorio, organized by the Municipality's Environment Office and the Anci Toscana Table, in which important issues of promotion and growth of agriculture in the Valdarno area will be discussed.
At 2:30 p.m. there will be a photo competition "Photomarathon," organized by Radio Valdarno, Arci Valdarno, Foto d'Arte Lab and Conkarma. The appointment will be in Don Bosco Square where adults (13 and older), children (6 to 13 years old) and instagram users (anyone registered with a personal account on this social network) will compete. To participate in the competition, it is recommended to pre-register by sending an email to photomarathonautumnia@gmail.com
Finally, at 3:30 p.m. the official opening of Autumnia will be held in Piazza Marsilio Ficino, with the traditional procession, the performance of the Flag-wavers of the Borghi e Sestieri Fiorentini and the greeting of Mayor Giulia Mugnai.
However, the organization of Autumnia 2016 must record an absence whose absence it does not hide its regret: this year there will be no rescue dogs from the Florence Misericordia. The motivation is simple and commendable: the earthquakes of the past few months have put them through a lot, and now it is time for a well-deserved rest. And this is also an extra motivation to come to Figline and leave a donation for Accumoli, one of the towns in central Italy affected by the earthquake for which the Municipality of Figline and Incisa Valdarno will raise funds as part of the event. The dog show on Saturday 12 at 10:30 a.m. in Via Del Puglia is therefore postponed to 2017, but on Sunday 13 all #Autumnia participants will be able to watch the simulation of rescue from a fire with the Fire Brigade (10:30 a.m. Piazza IV Novembre).
It is also advised that a questionnaire about the event will be available in the various areas, which will be used by the municipality to improve all aspects of the event. The questionnaire will also be available at the Urp of Figline City Hall (Piazza IV Novembre) until Friday, November 18, and online at www.autumnia.it
