The Petrarch.fiv literary contest enters its final stage. From the more than 50 stories received, the con.tempo editorial staff has selected 20 for the second stage, which consists of two evenings of read alouds during which the public will vote for the best ones.
The premiere will be held Friday, Nov. 24, at 9:15 p.m. in the hall adjacent to the cloister of the Pieve di San Romolo in Gaville (Via di Gaville, 59 in Figline). During the evening Mario Pietramala, an actor who has performed with actresses of the caliber of Monica Guerritore and directors such as Gabriele Lavia, will read ten short stories written by Alessandro Benassi, Alessandro Bertoli, Boris Bertolini, Paola Bertoncini, Roberto Cagnoli, Andrea Cardinali, Gennaro Castaldo, Gloria Donati, Giulio Pedani, and Giulia Caterina Trucano.
The other ten will be read on the second evening of readings to be held on Thursday, Dec. 7, at 9:15 p. m. in the ridotto of the Garibaldi Theater (Piazza Serristori in Figline). The 12 short stories with the most votes on the two evenings will go to the judgment of the technical jury composed of writers Simona Baldanzi, Giampaolo Simi and Vanni Santoni, who will select the winner plus an additional 6 short stories, to be published all together in a volume published by the municipality, complete with illustrations signed by Nicola Giorgio of the graphic designers collective Muttnik.
The winning author will also receive a cash prize of 500 euros. The award ceremony will be held Dec. 16 at 5 p.m. at Casa Petrarca (Benassai Square, Incisa).
Please note that Petrarca.Fiv is a literary competition on the theme of modernity, migrations and contaminations, promoted by the Cultural Department of the City of Figline and Incisa Valdarno in collaboration with the cultural association Con.tempo, which edits the Florentine magazine of the same name.
