Disability and integration and socialization activities in the area will be discussed at the meeting on Saturday, Dec. 2, at 3 p.m. at the social center "Il Giardino" (Dalla Chiesa Gardens, Via Roma-Figline). The occasion is the International Day of Disability, established in 1981 with the aim of promoting a more widespread and in-depth knowledge on the issue and to ward off all forms of discrimination.
Some of the realities of the area, represented by Laura Ermini (president of the Aseba Association), Anna Kozarzewska (vice-president of the Florence Autism Association), Ilaria Pratellesi (president of the Lettera Otto Cooperative) and Luigi Remaschi (president of the Nuovi Giorni Foundation) will tell their experiences in this area. They will also discuss structural and urban interventions to improve the mobility of people with disabilities in the area and social and health procedures to promote their integration. The first topic will be covered by architect Luca Marzi, draftsman of the Elimination of Architectural Barriers Plan for the Municipality of Figline and Incisa Valdarno; the second aspect, on the other hand, will be explored in depth by Drs. Alba Murano (child neuropsychiatrist and director UFSMIA Firenze Sud Est-Mugello of the AUSL Toscana Centro) and Brunella Centoni (child neuropsychiatrist UFSMIA Firenze Sud Est-Mugello of the AUSL Toscana Centro, where she deals with autism).
Introducing the afternoon, however, will be Councillor for Social Policies of the Municipality of Figline and Incisa Valdarno, Ottavia Meazzini. The initiative will conclude with a dance performance by Aseba children and a greeting by singer-songwriter, writer and actor Simone Cristicchi, who is in Figline to present his book "Il secondo figlio di Dio. Life, Death and Miracles of David Lazzaretti" (Saturday, Dec. 2, 6 p.m. at the Garibaldi Redoubt) and to stage the play of the same name at the Garibaldi Theater (Saturday, Dec. 2, 9 p.m.; Sunday, Dec. 3, 4:30 p.m. More information at www.teatrogaribaldi.org).
