There are many activities that can be tried during the City of Sports (Sept. 28-30) at the Matassino sports facilities. Back again this year, in fact, is the event organized by the City of Figline and Incisa Valdarno in collaboration with Decathlon, which welcomes schoolchildren from Figline and Incisa on the first two days and then concludes with a Saturday of initiatives open to the public.
It is on Saturday, 30, in fact, that the associations participating in the initiative will be available to the public for the entire day, at booths placed at the edge of the track, ready to present their activities, complete with demonstration rehearsals and performances. Present will be: Ciclistica figlinese (exhibition of jimkana skills),Polisportiva Rugiada (demonstration of Sailboat and Canoe techniques), Gruppo Sport e Cultura ("A Cielo Aperto" training with exhibition with small tools), Basket Don Bosco (men's and women's Mini Basketball games), Atletica Futura (games of approach to athletics, with demonstrations of long jump and high jump, sprint hurdles competition, endurance and speed competition, vortex throwing), Polisportiva Libertas (table tennis tournament), Valdarninsieme (Mini Volleyball tournament), Valdarno FC (soccer match), Asd Marzocco Sangiovannese (women's soccer), Tennis Club Figline (practice demonstrations and tennis practice), Rugby Valdarno (practical demonstration of techniques for playing practice).
At 11 a.m., however, there will be a soccer match between some Valdarno administrators and the San Giovannese - Marzocco women's soccer team. The initiative has been renamed "A Kick Against Violence" and is aimed at raising awareness of the issue of violence against women.
In the afternoon (3 p.m.), space will be given to martial arts performances, with the Karate Shotokan Valdarno academy, A.S.D. Nanbudo Iamori Dojo, A.S.D Judo Incisa, and ASD Aikido Fijilkam, which will be joined by the activities of the yoga center L'altro Meridiano, the Aurora gymnastics society (artistic gymnastics exhibition) and Figline Danza (ballet, contemporary and hip hop demonstration classes). At the same time, in the stage area, the mayor of Figline and Incisa Valdarno, Giulia Mugnai, and Sports Councillor, Mattia Chiosi, will award the athlete and ambassador of the year, and then present the 2017 sports merit awards.
At 4 p.m., however, the meeting tent will host the presentation of Pippo Russo's book entitled "Nedo Ludi," Empoli's stopper until 1989. Through the figure of this footballer, who is the protagonist of the book, there will be a discussion of how much sport, and in particular soccer, has changed over the years, and parallels will be made with the social transformations that have taken place in the same time frame.
A representation from the youth sector of the Valdarno Football club will also be present at the meeting, along with one of its workers, Eva Leporatti. A Mondadori bookstore outlet will also remain active during the discussion. Following this, Leno Chisci will present the Charter of Parental Duties in Sport, a document created by the Panathlon International association that aims to promote sport and its moral and cultural values.
