Food and folk traditions from around the world. These are the main ingredients of the weekend in the historic center of Figline, where Folk&Food will take place from Friday, May 18 to Sunday, May 20. It is an event promoted by the association of the same name and sponsored by the municipality with the collaboration of the Pro loco "Marsilio Ficino."
Folk&Food is a true folklore festival, with the presence of many food stands specializing in international street food, with gastronomic varieties from Spain (Paella), Greece (Pita Gyros, dolmades, Greek yogurt and Souvlaki), Italy (craft beer, fried fish from the Adriatic, grilled arrosticini from Abruzzo, chianina burger, truffle gnocchetti, Tuscan cured meats), Romania (Mici), the United States (pulled pork), Venezuela (Arepa gluten free), Argentina (asados), Germany (sausage and sauerkraut sandwiches) and other countries from around the world that will be meeting in Marsilio Ficino Square.
But the pleasure will not be limited to just the palate, as people can participate firsthand in the events and dances of the various folk groups present: on Friday at 8 p.m. there will be oriental dances and belly dancing, on Saturday at 7 p.m. Spanish music and dances and at 9 p.m. Greek music and dances, and on Sunday at 8 p.m. more belly dancing.
The event, with free admission, will open at 5 p.m. on Friday (until midnight) and continue on Saturday and Sunday with hours 11-24.
