The right to be a woman: Saturday 9 April at 5 p.m. the second of the appointments of 'Fuori Serie: literature meets TV series'.
The female experience between memoir and self-narrative in Fleabag, Maid and Unorthodox
The gazes of contemporary seriality stage a modern female universe, drawing on the personal experiences of female authors who talk about themselves and the difficulties that every woman faces every day. The complicated lives of young mothers, the sexist constraints of the religious world, and the relationship with sexuality, relationships and self-expression that goes beyond gender stereotypes are at the heart of three successful series based on as many intimate testimonies: Fleabag, based on the play of the same name by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Maid, based on Stephanie Land's memoir Cleaning Woman. Hard work, low pay and a mother's will to survive, and Unorthodox, based on Deborah Feldman's autobiography Ex-Orthodox. The Outrageous Rejection of My Chassidic Roots. To move within these stories is to observe how the struggle for one's self-determination is a fundamental step in expressing one's identity.
