On Sept. 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., an extraordinary visit to the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta is scheduled in Figline on the occasion of European Heritage Days 2019. It will be curated by art historian Lucia Bencistà, who will collaborate (in organizational terms) with arch. Fiorella Ferrante and who will also accompany visitors to the Museum of Sacred Art, and then move to Piazza Marsilio Ficino. The event will conclude with a guided tour of the Giovanni Pratesi Foundation (housed inside the Oratory of the former Serristori Hospital) and will be curated by the 'antiquarian after whom it is named.
Guided tours are free of charge and do not require reservations, only on-site registration. The maximum number of visitors allowed must reconcile with the smooth running of the event and security requirements.
We would like to thank the person responsible for the protection of the monument (arch. Emanuele Masiello) and the Soprintendenza Archeologia Belle Arti e Paesaggio for the Metropolitan City of Florence and the Provinces of Pistoia and Prato who, in collaboration with the religious authorities (Bishop Monsignor Mario Meini and Parish Priest Don Giovanni Sassolini) and the Municipal Administration of Figline and Incisa Valdarno, are promoting this initiative with a view to enhancing this cultural asset.
