Video screening: "Isabella Morra poetess of Valsinni"
The verses of Isabella Morra, a pioneer of Italian Romanticism unknown in life, made her famous post mortem by attracting the attention of Benedetto Croce, who was surprised by her verses considering them original and profound.
Indeed, the uniqueness of her compositions is linked to her frustration at the non-recognition of her qualities as a woman and poet, a feeling that characterized her first poetic season with a strong hope for escape and a heartfelt malaise, and led to the resignation of her second period.
Recurring in his poetics are themes such as melancholy, freedom, fickle fortune, adverse fortune, and longing for his father.
