It will be held Saturday, May 21, at 9:15 p.m., the last event of the 2015/16 Concert Season at the Garibaldi Theater (Piazza Serristori, Figline). For the occasion, the Orchestra della Toscana will perform L'Italiana in Algeri, an overture by Gioacchino Rossini, Niccolò Paganini's Concerto in D major No. 1 for violin and orchestra op. 6 and R. Schumann's Sinfonia in E-flat major No. 3 op. 97, better known as Sinfonia Renana.
THE OPERAS - The first two pieces scheduled for May 21 date from 1815-16. In particular, L' Italiana in Algeri is the opera buffa that helped to create the fame of Rossini, then just 20 years old; in contrast, Paganini's opera was never published, so as not to give a definitive version and, consequently, to allow himself (in the dual capacity of composer and performer) to modify it from time to time. The Rhineland Symphony, on the other hand, dates from 1850, the year Schumann was living right on the banks of the Rhine in Dusseldorf, Germany.
ON STAGE - While Maestro Daniele Rustioni (born 1983) will conduct the orchestra, it will be his wife Francesca Dego 's (born 1989) turn to perform on the violin. This is a pair of young artists, who have collected successes in the international arena.
Daniele Rustioni, in addition to being director of the Ort since June 2014, has in fact been Antonio Pappano's assistant at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London, as part of the Jette Parker Young Artists Program. In addition, in April 2013, he was named "Best newcomer of the year" by the International Opera Awards in London (a kind of Lyric Academy Awards).
Violinist Francesca Dego, on the other hand, is considered among Italy's best performers, thanks in part to the success of her debut album entitled Paganini 24 Caprices (2012), recorded with the Deutsche Grammophon label, which also produced her performances of the Sonatas by Beethoven (2014 e 2015). A winner of numerous international competitions, she is a regular guest at festivals and concert seasons around the world, including Wigmore Hall and Royal Albert Hall in London, the Oriental Arts Center in Shanghai, and the NCPA in Beijing.
