Another Thursday at The Garden Community Center! Read al ouds discovering "Made in U.S.A" novels and short stories return on Nov. 21.
At 4:30 p.m., in Via Roma near General dalla Chiesa Park, a meeting held by Angelo Australi will begin, this time covering Herman Melville's Moby Dick (1851). The novel is a masterpiece of American literature: it is the story of the whaling ship Pequod, commanded by Captain Ahab, and the enormous white whale, which gives the book its name. In Moby Dick the whaling voyage is transformed into an allegory of the condition of human nature and at the same time into a parable of the imprudent expansion of the young American republic.
Readings at the Garden, scheduled in the October-December Literary Agenda, will return on Thursday, Dec. 5, with Mark Twain and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. To learn about all events related to the invitation to read, scheduled in Figline and Incisa Valdarno, click here.
