Readings at the Garden themed "Made in U.S.A: A Journey in American Literature," curated by The Garden Association for pleasure of sharing and reading, continues.
The next meeting will be Thursday, Jan. 9, at 4:30 p.m. at Il Giardino Social Center (on Via Roma, near the General Dalla Chiesa Gardens in Figline). After a presentation by Angelo Australi, Paolo Gualandi will read excerpts from Jack London'sThe Call of the Forest. The short novel deals with the adventures of Buck, a dog who from California, sold and mistreated, reaches the Klondike ice where the "gold rush" has begun. After numerous trials, Buck will finally meet his rescuer, who will take him east, and it is here that the dog first hears "the call of the forest."
The next event is set for Thursday, Jan. 23, with Gertrude Stein and Melanctha ("Three Existences").
