After the first edition in 2021, for this second edition the cycle of readings is proposed with the firm intention of constituting a presence in the panorama of cultural initiatives organized in the summer by the Municipality of Figline and Incisa Valdarno, with the aim of enhancing the area of the Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa Gardens and the spaces of the association during the evening hours as well.
Giuseppe Baldassarre, of the Florentine association Pianeta Poesia, reads Carlo Levi's novel Christ Stopped at Eboli, first published in 1945. The novel uncovers the problem of the Meridione, not only as an episode of an archaic condition, intolerable in our society, but also as a theater of an extraordinary peasant civilization that can exist far from the "center," now more than ever in identity crisis.
Nocturnes at the Garden
Five reading meetings organized byThe Garden Association in collaboration with the Semmelweis Literary Circle and thePeter Russell Cultural Association, under the patronage of the municipalities of Figline Incisa Valdarno and Castelfranco Piandiscò.
