While waiting for the doors of the Garibaldi Theatre to open once again to its public, the municipality of Figline and Incisa Valdarno has decided to promote a show (digital and interactive) that will be broadcast in live streaming on 20, 26 and 27 December by booking free of charge here.
It is a multimedia project that combines theatre, cinema, videogames and animated illustration, many languages to try to tell the story of one of the most important childhood classics of American literature: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The show is produced by KanterStrasse/Straligut Teatro with the collaboration of Blanket Studio and the contribution of Figline and Incisa Valdarno, the Region of Tuscany and Publiacqua spa, directed by Simone Martini and Lorenzo Donnini, with Elisa Vitiello, Simone Martini and Alessio Martinoli.
OZz is therefore an interactive journey where the viewer can influence the story and its ending, where he or she can decide what to explore and what not to. In some cases, we can understand some characters better, or peek behind the scenes and discover some details of the staging, decide whether to be curious or faithful to the original plot. Everything is allowed, nothing is wrong: it is simply a matter of choice.
OZz is also a collective experience: the live streaming mode will bring the viewer into a virtual theatre hall, where we can all live this innovative experience together at that particular moment.
To participate, it is necessary to make a reservation on the Il Sonar platform: here you only have to leave your email, on which a code will be sent to you to watch the show, like a real ticket (free of charge). OZz can be followed via any device connected to the internet, i.e. smart TV, PC, tablet and smartphone (use of browsers such as Chrome or Firefox is recommended).
"This project seemed to us to be the most appropriate response to such a difficult moment for the world of culture and entertainment in general,' explained councillor Francesca Farini. 'The theatres are still closed, but the desire to attend shows is really strong: we perceive this from the citizens who call us to find out when the Garibaldi will reopen, but also from the companies that lack contact with the public. Companies such as KanteStrasse, which together with Blanket and Straligut came up with this project, which we immediately joined, supporting it also financially. For us, OZz represents the sum total of all the cultural policies that we as a municipal administration are trying to tie together, namely theatre, reading, digital and territory. Hence, the theatrical transposition of Baum's book becomes digital and does so with an entirely Valdarno setting in which one can see the Balze, the woods of Vallombrosa and, of course, our beautiful theatre. For all these reasons, we have decided to give this show as a gift to all the people who book for the three dates of 20, 26 and 27 December'.
The OZz project will continue after these dates with an educational route that will try to involve schools as early as 2021. For students, extra-educational experiences have been reduced due to the anti-Cvid measures, but OZz is a great opportunity to discover digital theatre and to get in touch with actors. Schools interested in the project can already write to cultura@comunefiv.it.
WHAT THE SONAR PLATFORM IS:
Sonar (www.ilsonar.it) was born in Siena in 2013 from an idea of Straligut, a Sienese company that deals with theater in all its forms, from the production of shows to training, from the organization of festivals and reviews to the promotion of emerging theater through the In-Box project. Sonar offers digital services to the Italian theater community - companies, theaters, audiences - with the aim of fostering the circulation and enjoyment of artists' works. The heart of the platform is represented by: a vast archive of shows and companies, a mapping of Italian theaters and festivals, and the online sales service of show reruns with the possibility of cachet anticipation. Thanks to the support of the Tuscany Region, new streaming and live streaming services have been developed: a digital space available to companies, theaters and audiences to experiment with and enjoy new artistic forms that hybridize theatrical and digital languages.
