Edition number 10 for the Perlamora Festival, the cultural event organized by the Perlamora Agricultural Historical Cultural Center (loc. Pavelli in Figline, Via Golfonaia 29), which, as per tradition, involves authors, historians, writers, politicians and, in general, experts in the topics covered in its packed program of initiatives. A program with free admission that, precisely on the occasion of its 10 years of activity, will give space not only to literature, history, human and civil rights and health, but also to current events, solidarity and some historical anniversaries that have marked the local and international context.
The opening of the festival is set for June 23, in the company of the Fraternity of Romena (Ar). It is from 9:30 p.m., in fact, that Don Luigi Verdi, the father who, for years, has carried on its activities and transformed its headquarters (parish church of Romena di Pratovecchio) into a place of welcome and dialogue, will speak. As forcurrent events, there are two appointments that stand out on the billboard. The first is the one on July 22, which, a few months after the approval of the law regulating civil unions also between persons of the same sex (the so-called Ddl Cirinnà), includes a debate between PD senator Monica Cirinnà, regional councilors Valentina Vadi and Monia Monni, and mayors Giulia Mugnai (Figline and Incisa Valdarno), Maurizio Viligiardi (San Giovanni Valdarno) and Giuseppe Torchia (Vinci). Moderating and coordinating themeeting will be Nicola Vasai, deputy news editor of RTV38. Instead, constitutional reform will be discussed at the August 7 meeting, when MP and Pd regional secretary Dario Parrini will speak.
Space is also given to historical commemorations, such as the one dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Florence flood (Nov. 4, 1966), which will be remembered on the evening of Sept. 8. Also among the evening's participants was Severino Saccardi, editor of the periodical Testimonianze, which, this year, decided to dedicate a triple issue to the great flood of '66. Alongside him were Professor Giorgio Valentino Federici, secretary of the "Firenze 2016-Toscana 2016" Committee, Giampiero Bigazzi of Materiali Sonori, creator of the Orientoccidente festival, writer Stefano Beccastrini and journalist Sandro Bennucci.
An evening of solidarity, on the other hand, took place on June 30, on the occasion of the delivery of a new defibrillator to the municipality of Figline and Incisa Valdarno, to be placed in front of the "Leonardo da Vinci" middle school (Via Garibaldi 24, Figline). Again, the AED donation is part of the "Valdarno Life Project," promoted by the periodical Il Valdarno and supported by Calcit Valdarno Fiorentino.
As usual, the Perlamora 2016 poster will conclude on December 8, with a discussion on the topic of the historical value of Italy and its small towns. All events, with free admission, will be held in the Greek Theater (inside the "Perlamora" center's Human Rights Park; in case of rain, events will be held indoors, also on the center's premises).
