A photo exhibition, a hands-on workshop, a guided tour, a book presentation, a double concert and a food court. These are the free initiatives planned in Incisa for Saturday, July 9, on the occasion of "Bring us Grandma, a summer evening." This is the summer edition of the festival that, last April 30, brought six local music groups to perform in Mazzanti Square, Incisa, involving all age groups.
Again (but rain is not expected this time), the event is organized by the under-30 youth group renamed "Bring us Grandma," supported by the Pro Loco "Aldo Caselli" of Incisa (of which it is a member). Hosting the initiatives will be the Castello area of Incisa, particularly via Castellana and the area inside and outside Casa Petrarca (Benassai Square).
It starts at 3 p.m. with two free photography workshops by Chiara Salvi and Walter Valentini, who will discuss the processes of photographic printing Cyanotype and Chimigram. Simultaneously, at Casa Petrarca, the exhibition "Touching a photograph" will also open, focusing on the theme of the photographic image understood as an active object. The shots - on display until July 10 - are signed by artists from around the world, selected in June through an open call on Facebook.
Also at Casa Petrarca, at 7 p.m., there will be a guided tour of the building where the poet Francesco Petrarca lived as a child, which was inaugurated by the City of Figline and Incisa Valdarno last September. Acting as tour guide will bearchitect Cristiana Pesciullesi, who oversaw the consolidation work on the structure and its first phase of restoration.
At 9 p.m., however, the floor will be turned over to Italian-Senegalese writer Abdou Mbacke Diouf, who will present his debut novel entitled "It's Always Summer" (2016, GoWare publishing house).
Two concerts are then scheduled to close the day. The first, starting at 10 p.m., is by Henry Jones, a young English singer-songwriter making his second debut in Italy and ready to perform a show with just voice and guitar. Next, the microphone will pass toTuscan singer-songwriterLucio Corsi, who is well known on the Italian independent music scene (concert with guitar, voice and bass drum). In addition, a refreshment stand will be guaranteed in front of Casa Petrarca for the duration of the event.
