The traditional Gaville Spring Festival returns on May 13 and 14, which this year will focus its initiatives onchildren's entertainment and the rediscovery of ancient crafts. Organized by the Casa della Civiltà contadina, in collaboration with the Parish of San Romolo, the Circolo Arci of Gaville, the Le Muse Association, the Figline Philatelic and Numismatic Circle, the Mine Museum of Castelnuovo dei Sabbioni, and with the patronage of the Municipality of Figline and Incisa Valdarno.
It starts on Saturday, May 13, from the courtyard of the Casa della Civiltà Contadina, where at 6 p.m. the book entitled "Bandito! Partisan History in Maremma" (Heimat Editions) by Graziano Mantiloni. It is an account that traces some moments of the Resistance in Tuscany, starting with the stories of one of its protagonists, Aroldo Colombini. The author will be present.
At 7:30 p.m. space for pizza dinner, with proceeds donated to the Farming Civilization Association (dinner reservations required at the following contacts: 338.4983775 or 338.4442564 or info@museogaville.it).
On Sunday, May 14, starting at 10 a.m., the area of the House of Peasant Civilization and the Pieve di Gaville will instead host educational and manual workshops for children, focusing on blacksmithing, painters and basket weavers. In addition, there will be workshops dedicated to the world of honey and truffles, the milling of wheat,the Castelnuovo mine, farm animals and drawing.
From 3 p.m., however, there will be cheese-making demonstrations. In addition to the family events, throughout the day there will be the opportunity to visit both the House of Farming Civilization (with a guided tour at 11 a.m.) and the photo exhibition entitled "Health in Color - The Environment," curated by the group "Friends of Sunday." Also on display throughout the day are agricultural calendars, yearbooks and lunars by Pierluigi Righi, and typical products (available for purchase on site). After the 11:30 a.m. Mass at the Pieve di Gaville, however, there will be a Tuscan lunch, organized at the Circolo Arci in Gaville for 1 p.m. (reservations at 338.4442564).
