Learning to Meditate: learning about meditation and mindfulness
Meditation course for adults by Giancarlo Shinkai Carboni to be held on Saturday 28 May at 10.30 a.m.
The course is structured in 8 meetings, which is the standard duration of any mindfulness course. The course will use the MBSA (Mindfulness Based Spiritual Awakening) protocol, which is the path designed by Giancarlo Shinkai Carboni. The protocol was born from the principles of the MBSR model from which dozens of different protocols have sprung (MBCT, MOM, DBT, MBRP, MBCPM, MAGT, EBCT, etc.). The aim of the training is to provide participants with the tools to understand what meditation/mindfulness is in order to practice it at home. The main meditation exercises will be introduced so that each person can choose the one that best suits their personal characteristics. At the end of the course we will suggest books and other tools to deepen the topic. The course is open to everyone and no knowledge of the subject is required. It is open to all ages, but it is advisable to be at least fourteen years old. Each meeting is divided into: an introductory part, a theoretical part, a part of work on the body, a part dedicated to breathing exercises, a part dedicated to meditation exercises, a part dedicated to questions and answers, a final part in which the "homework" is provided.
Participants should bring a fitness mat and a meditation cushion or a soft yoga mat.
