The initiatives scheduled for 'Let's do Christmas together', with which Figline and Incisa Valdarno prepares for Christmas, continue. Many events are planned for this day.
It starts in Figline, with the reconstruction of a medieval marketplace in Piazza Marsilio Ficino, complete with costumed characters.
From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., a blacksmith, a herbalist and dyer, a candle and soap maker, a coin maker and a carpenter will be working in Piazza Marsilio Ficino, demonstrating the working techniques of the time. A painting workshop and a medieval games stall will also be set up next to them. The event - organised by the cultural association of experimental archaeology Arkè - is part of the initiatives themed "Mercatali e Castelli" [more news here] launched by the Sistema Museale Chianti Valdarno for 2015[info here] .
Space will also be given to readings from Dante, performed in period costumes by the students of the'Vasari' High School, to the flag-throwing challenge by the Flag-throwers of the Florentine Borghi and Sestieri, and to the performances of the Compagnia delle Contrade di Figline, which will propose a sort of medieval camp with acrobats, fire-eaters, archers, falconers, dancers, ladies and knights.
During the afternoon, visitors to the fair will also be offered free chestnut and mulled wine tastings.
In addition, on the same day, Incisa's 'Il Granaio' and 'Le Botteghe del Petrarca' natural shopping centres organised a Christmas market, which will remain open all day in Piazza Santa Lucia-Incisa.
