The Ridotto del Garibaldi (Piazza Serristori, Figline) will host a new evening musical event, included in the "Valdarno Jazz Festival - Winter Edition" and directed by Daniele Malvisi and Gianmarco Scaglia.
The event is set for 9:30 p. m. with an actual concert, by the Giulia Galliani Mag Collective. The band - made up of Giulia Galliani (vocals), Matteo Addabbo (piano and hammond), Andrea Mucciarelli (guitar), Giovanni Benvenuti (saxophones), Marco Benedetti (double bass and electric bass) and Andrea Beninati (drums and cello) - will perform songs from their album "Songs for Joni," a reinterpretation of songs signed by Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell released last May the Apulian label Dodicilune.
The Valdarno Jazz Festival-which will conclude on April 27 in Terranuova Bracciolini-is a well-established reality in the international jazz scene and included in the Guide to Jazz in Italy. It was born in 1998 from the merger of two festivals, Montevarchi Jazz, a summer festival, under the direction of Tuscan saxophonist Daniele Malvisi, and Terranuova Jazz, a winter festival, under the artistic direction of Emilian double bassist Gianmarco Scaglia. With the birth of the Valdarno Jazz Association, and the joint leadership of Malvisi and Scaglia, the festival expanded to the entire Valdarno area, including two annual fixtures: the VJ winter, held in February, and the VJ summer, held in July.
