Institutions, associations and shops together to promote the area with events. Appointment on 6-13 December
Double appointment in December, in Figline and Incisa, to relive the medieval atmosphere. Two events are scheduled: the first will be held on 6 December, when a real market will be set up in Figline; the second in Incisa, on 13 December, for a route to discover the area of its ancient castle.
In fact, 'Mercatali e Castelli' is the theme launched by the Sistema Museale Chianti Valdarno for 2015, which serves as the backdrop for both of these initiatives, included in the programme of Christmas events that will take place throughout the municipal territory in December.
It will be the historic centre of Figline that will be the first to relive the medieval atmosphere of the 13th century, through the reconstruction - organised by the Arkè experimental archaeology cultural association - of a real craft area, complete with costumed characters. A blacksmith, a herbalist and dyer, a candle and soap maker, a coin maker and a carpenter will, in fact, be working in Piazza Marsilio Ficino on 6 December, to show the working techniquesof that era(3.00-8.00 pm). A painting workshop and a medieval games stall will also be set up next to them. Space will also be given to readings from Dante, performed in period costumes by the students of the Istituto Superiore 'Vasari', to the challenge with the flags of the Sbandieratori dei Borghi e dei Sestieri Fiorentini and to the performances of the Compagnia delle Contrade di Figline, which will propose a sort of medieval camp with acrobats, fire-eaters, archers, falconers, dancers, ladies and knights. During the afternoon, visitors to the fair can enjoy free chestnuts and mulled wine.
On 13 December, instead, we will move to Incisa, for a day of family-friendly events. It starts in Piazza Santa Lucia with the Christmas market organised by the Centro Commerciale Naturale 'Le Botteghe del Petrarca', which will remain open all day.
The stands will also include Aer's 'Rigiocattolo', a children's party dedicated to the free exchange of toys . In fact, children will have the opportunity to bring their own toy, leave it and take one of the recycled and available ones. The aim is to involve the youngest in the life of the community and make them understand that the things they no longer need can be useful to someone else. Old toys can be collected (from 2 to 10 December) at the following collection points: Ti Ci Porto Io travel agency (via XX Settembre, 50), Tenerezze (via XX Settembre, 26), Ferramenta Mugnai (via Petrarca, 86), Caffè il Ritrovo (piazza Santa Lucia), Bar Fernando (via Roma, 7), Ottica Aulo (via Roma, 11), Tabaccheria Segnali di fumo (via Roma, 69).
In the afternoon, on the other hand, the initiative "Al mio bel Castello Marcondirondello" is scheduled: a series of workshops and games for children - organised on the occasion of the National Day of Families at the Museum - dedicated to the discovery of the ancient "Castello dell'Ancisa". These activities include the treasure hunt that will take place along the Via Romea from 4.15 p.m. to 6 p.m., with stops at the Museum of Sacred Art and Casa Petrarca (departure from Piazza della Repubblica).
