It is called "Health Saturdays," and it is the initiative-promoted by the City of Figline and Incisa Valdarno, in collaboration with the Arci Rinascita club in Figline and the Ausl Toscana Centro company-dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles, wellness and prevention. In detail, it consists of four meetings, to be held starting Sept. 16 and continuing on Sept. 30, Oct. 14 and Oct. 28 at the Arci Rinascita circle (Via Roma 17, Figline) from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and will be curated by physicians and health and social-assistive professionals.
Following Saturday's Sept. 16 meeting titled "A Pathway Without Obstacles: Health Before Bureaucracy" and "Health Belongs to Everyone: Cultural Mediation and Inclusivity," the Sept. 30 meeting will be a double event.
It starts with the meeting titled "Prevention is better than cure...health first," which will focus on the main preventive strategies (such as vaccines and periodic checkups) in the various age groups, and continues with the one dedicated to the importance of the doctor-patient relationship, titled "The family doctor...the relationship that heals between past and future." Speaking will be Dr. Alessandra Schiavon (psychologist and psychotherapist at Serristori Hospital's Oncology D.H.) Dr. Maria Grazia Mori (general practitioner), Dr. Giovanni Lauretta (pediatrician) and Dr. Luciana Colasanti (endocrinologist and psychotherapist at Serristori Hospital).
The first meeting in October is set for the morning of Oct. 14 and is titled "An apple a day...health on the plate," which will focus on the theme of nutrition and lifestyles best suited to promote well-being and reduce the onset of disease. Discussing the topic will be Dr. Lucia Caligiani (psychotherapist and director of the Ausl Toscana Centro Psycho-oncology Operating Unit), Dr. Elisabetta Surrenti (psychotherapist and psycho-oncologist at the same operating unit), Dr. Leonardo Marchi (Ausl Toscana Centro medical director) and Dr. Manuela Romano (Ausl Toscana Centro nutritionist gastroenterologist).
The informational review will conclude on Oct. 28 with a double oncology-themed event: "The Elephant in the Room: oncology between old prejudices and new perspectives on treatment" and "The Other Ways to Health: Pathways to Complementary Medicine and Narrative Medicine." Speakers will include Dr. Alessandra Schiavon (psychologist and psychotherapist at the Serristori Oncology D.H.), Dr. Clara Giordano (Oncologist at Serristori), Dr. Giuseppe Curciarello (Oncohematologist at DH Oncology at Serristori), Dr. Susanna Fambrini (Nursing Coordinator at DH Oncology at Serristori), Dr. Silvia Pecorini (Head of Reception Sector at Serristori Hospital).
Each meeting will be followed by an aperitif, which will be offered to all participants. In addition, to encourage parents' participation, children's entertainment and animation will be provided during the conferences by educators from Conkarma Association.
