The 10th edition of Alchimie Teatrali, the theatrical review that the City of Figline and Incisa Valdarno--in collaboration with the association Prima Materia of Montespertoli, Conkarma, Foto d'Arte Lab and Circolo Fotografico Arno--dedicates to the enhancement of youth productions by involving schools, associations and theater companies in the area, continues.
Already four shows have been staged at the Garibaldi, where they have taken turns: students from the Academy of Ancient Drama in Syracuse (April 16 and 17 in "Antigone"), those from the theater workshop of Figline's Marsilio Ficino Community College (May 11 with "The Birds"), those from the Masaccio Lab of the Masaccio Cultural Association (May 17 with "You Had Promised") and the youngsters from the Sliding Theaters project, led by Dimitri Frosali(May 24 with "La Mandragola").
The next show, however, is titled "The Breakfast Club" and will be brought to the stage on Thursday, May 31, at 9:30 p.m. by the Bucine-based Diesis Teatrango Theatre School of Ogre Faces Company . It is a theatrical adaptation of the John Hughes film of the same name, curated by Serena Nannini.
Subsequent performances, however, will take place on the following dates on June 4 ("The Eumenides" by the Si fa teatro workshop) and June 7 ("Iron Heads" by the Vasari Institute theater workshop in Figline).
On June 16, closing night, at 6 p.m. there will be an award ceremony for the winners of this edition, by a jury of experts including Dimitri Frosali, Serena Naddi, Isabella Valoriani, with three important new entries: Alice Spisa (winner of the Ubu Award as best actress under 30 in 2013), Ciro Gallorano (young actor and director of the Cantiere Artaud company) and Carlo Menicatti, who, through the Conkarma association, has followed a group of young people throughout the season who have been able to meet the great actors who have passed through the Figlino theater by analyzing their shows.
Two prizes are up for grabs this year: the Golden Leorso and a cash prize of 1,000 euros; the Silver Leorso and a prize of 500 euros. The experts on the jury will also be able to decide to suggest to the municipal administration which of the six shows in the review should be included in the Garibaldi Theater's 2018/2019 Prose Season (non-subscription) or to propose replication at other theaters in the area.
Tickets can be purchased at the Garibaldi Theater box office (Piazza Serristori, 055.952433, www.teatrogaribaldi.org): full price 8 euros, reduced 6 euros (up to 19 years old, over 65, Ficino, Rovai and Bibliocoop library cardholders), free up to 14 years old; season ticket for 6 shows at 25 euros for full price, 20 for reduced.
