A new fundraising initiative in favor of the Coedu project, the first free portal-promoted by Conkarma in partnership with Koinè and the Conference of Mayors of the Valdarno Aretino and sponsored by the Region of Tuscany-which aims to promote the educational, training and cultural services offered by Valdarno associations in the area, is set for the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 21, at the Cinema Nuovo in Figline (Via Roma 15).
There are two ways to contribute to Wednesday's fundraiser: attend the screening of the documentary film "Barbiana '65. Don Milani's lesson," which will begin at 9:30 p.m. (admission: 7 euros); choose the apericena e film option, with the appointment set for 8:15 p.m. at a cost of 10 euros.
The docu-film "Barbiana '65. The Lesson of Don Milani" was brought to the 74th Venice International Film Festival by Alessandro D'Alessandro, the son of the only director to whom Don Lorenzo Milani allowed to film life in his school. The result is a story, in pictures, of some crucial moments of life in Barbiana, which is interwoven with the testimonies of Adele Corradi, the teacher who lived the Barbiana experience with Don Milani; Beniamino Deidda, former attorney general of Florence who after the Don's death continued to teach at the School; and Don Ciotti, founder of "Libera contro le mafie" and other associations and social projects.
