From 6 to 8 November in Figline cooking show, street food and many other novelties for the 2015 edition
Edition number 17 for Autumnia, the event dedicated to agriculture, the environment and food that will be held from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 November in Figline, with free admission. The three-day event will enliven the city's historical centre, which for the occasion will be transformed into a maxi-fairground ready to host not only food and wine companies, but also refreshment stands, markets, and stands of associations and organisations operating in the environment and civil protection sector. Among the installations dedicated to these two themes are those planned for Piazza San Francesco, where the Municipality will install a series of green furnishings, designed to recreate a real forest. A few steps away, in nearby Via XXIV Maggio, the Fire Brigade stand will be present, while it will be the turn of Piazza IV Novembre to host those of the Municipality and Aer. Space will also be given to the zootechnical exhibition of breeds of cattle, sheep, pigs and poultry reared in the area, and to the exhibition of agricultural and gardening machinery of the Gaville peasant civilisation, which will be set up in the Misericordia gardens and in Piazza Serristori respectively. There will also be many attractions for families, particularly in the Misericordia gardens and in Via del Puglia, where children will find exhibitions, adventure trails and play areas, as well as the chance to get to know many farm and livestock animals up close. For shopping, on the other hand, the most suitable area will be Corso Mazzini and Piazza Dante, while agri-food companies will showcase their products in Piazza Ficino, Piazza Don Bosco and Via Santa Croce. And it is precisely there that the novelties of the 2015 edition will be concentrated: from the bees laden with street food to the cooking show in Piazza Ficino, with typical local products and tastings organised by the Gola Gioconda association and the Alfiero Bianchi Commercial Park. It is precisely in this area that the five candidates with the most votes on the Autumnia.Figline Facebook page will compete to the sound of castagnaccio, a typical autumn sweet that will be the theme of this fun contest scheduled for Sunday 8 November.
Finally, in the traditional spirit of Autumnia, there will be conferences (on 4 November at 2.30 p.m. on 'Hydrogeological instability: how to operate?'), lectures (on Saturday 7 at 9.15 a.m. on 'Dialogues around Science' with UniFi Rector Luigi Dei) and initiatives aimed at the environment such as the Festival of Trees involving the city's schools (Friday 6 November).
"Autumnia has now become a fixed appointment in the regional fair calendar," said Mayor Giulia Mugnai, "It is an opportunity to rediscover ourselves as a territory and, year after year, to showcase our excellence. Once again this year, the many visitors will be involved in all kinds of activities, from environmental and agricultural activities to gastronomic ones where they can be protagonists of the cooking show in Piazza Ficino. In short, there are many good reasons to come and visit us in Figline from 6 to 8 November'.
