In the wake of the collective memory trail promoted by the municipality for a few years now, a free walk is scheduled for Sunday, June 10, in Pian d'Albero, on the paths that cost the lives of Aronne Cavicchi (12) and many other people all exterminated by Nazi-Fascist troops in June 1944.
Departure for the walk has no specific time, it is free and can be at any time on June 10, as long as at 1 p.m. no one misses the free lunch at the Cavicchi farmhouse with sandwich and sausage, water, wine and fruit. Suggested departures are from: Cemetery of Cannucce, Sant'Andrea monument in Campiglia, San Martino, Santa Lucia, Poggio alla Croce-Fonte al Lamo.
"This year we are organizing an extra event to remember the events of Pian d'Albero, which tragically marked our territory," explained Councillor Mattia Chiosi. "It is a popular initiative, the kind that aims to involve everyone, both those who are familiar with the affair but also those who have never heard of 'Bistecchino,' 'Molla,' or 'Folgore' and want to retrace their stories with us.
This is therefore another fine initiative on the history of Pian d'Albero, which over the past few years has also been told through a research-book edited by Matteo Barucci and Gabriele Mori ("On the Road to Florence. The Senigaglia Brigade and the Massacre of Pian d'Albero, June 20, 1944"), with a comic strip signed by Pierpaolo Putignano and a series of panel paintings drawn by Stefano Sergiampietro at the Figline FS train station's bike/pedestrian path.
So, registration is not required to participate in the walk only, but is recommended for lunch (free) and should be made at Macelleria Pampaloni Lorenzo (055.9544377), Anpi section Aronne Cavicchi (333.3693609), Comune Figline e Incisa Valdarno (055.9125211), Salumeria Dei Romeo (055.958088).
The initiative is carried out by the municipality and the Italian Hunting Federation, with the participation of Anpi Cavicchi section, Gaib Figline, Misericordia di Figline, Red Cross of Incisa, Blue Cross of Figline, Circolo Mcl Ponterosso, Arci Valdarno, Arcicaccia, Polisportiva Fuoritraccia, with the contribution of the members section Coop Valdarno Fiorentino, Agenzia Generali Figline. Special thanks to the State Forestry Corps, Municipal Police, Antico Forno di Canu, Sorelli Vini, Fattoria Casagrande, Misseri Dante Frutta.
