Tracing the history of the former municipalities of Figline Valdarno and Incisa in Vald'Arno, from 1945 to their merger into a single entity, dated January 1, 2014. This is the purpose of the exhibition, sponsored by the Presidency of the Figline and Incisa Valdarno City Council, entitled "The Municipality and its Community. Journey through the history of Figline and Incisa from the postwar period to the single municipality," which will remain on display from Saturday, Sept. 2 to Sunday, Sept. 24, at Palazzo Pretorio (Piazza San Francesco, Figline).
It is a journey of discovery of the most exemplary moments in the history of both city capitals, which passes through a series of photographic shots of places, administrators and citizens, immortalized mainly while participating in collective events or demonstrations. Also on display are a few historical documents, such as an election magazine from 1951, where the then Mayor of Incisa, Silvano Tesi, tells his citizens about his plan for reconstruction. All the photos come from the archives of the municipality, the Arno Photographic Circle, and the Anpi and Pci sections of Figine; Cristina Bonechi, of the Municipality's Participation Office, selected them and organized the exhibition; the layout was taken care of by Marco Rossi while Silvano Monchi, of the Arno Photographic Circle, took care of the restoration and printing of the images.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 2, at 5:30 p.m. in the Egisto Sarri Room of the Praetorian Palace (Piazza San Francesco), where City Council President Cristina Simoni and Mayor Giulia Mugnai will speak. Eugenio Giani, president of the Regional Council of Tuscany, will also be present. Instead, the exhibition will be open to visitors during the following days and hours: from Sunday, Sept. 3 to Tuesday, Sept. 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.; from Sept. 9, only on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. In addition, visits will also be allowed to local schools by reservation (for information: the City Council's Participation Office, at 055.9125253).
