"The world goes to war" is a cycle of events that the municipality of Figline and Incisa Valdarno has decided to dedicate to the centenary of Italy's entry into the First World War. A calendar of events that started on 24 May, with the opening of an exhibition divided into two parts.
The first 'chapter' of this exhibition dealt with the role of the Military and Civilian Red Cross Corps in dealing with the enemy, also thanks to texts taken from the travelling exhibition that the Military Red Cross Corps is taking around Italy. The second 'chapter' was constructed as an emotional account of life at the front, thanks also to the inclusion of photographs of Caporetto. It also dealt with the theme of betrayal, through the photographic account of the treatment of some war veterans. Both exhibitions were curated by Cristina Bonechi of the City Council's Culture and Participation Office.
In addition to the exhibition, many other events were organised, spread over a period of six months. From meetings on literature to those on art, including music, cinema and theatre. And it will be precisely a theatrical event that will close the review dedicated to the Great War. The last appointment is set for 28 and 29 November at the Garibaldi Theatre, for the play 'La Paura' by Federico De Roberto.
