The social integration project entitled "The Community at the Center," promoted by the Municipality of Figline and Incisa Valdarno and curated by the Sociolab cooperative, which specializes in participatory pathways, is nearing its final phase. In detail, it is a path of listening and sharing that started last February, with the aim of collecting and sharing with citizens a series of proposals that will be used to suggest to the municipal administration the modes of intervention and social and cultural integration policies to be implemented in the area.
And it is precisely for this reason that the project took place in several stages, involving both associations and individual citizens in the listening and co-design phases. The next stage is on May 6, and it includes a series of events and initiatives promoted by the various territorial realities that participated in the path.
It starts at 10 a.m. with a tennis match organized at the "Stefano Borgonovo" sports center in Incisa (Via Leonardo da Vinci 26) by the Fun Tennis association. At the same time, in Piazza Don Bosco in Figline, an exhibition of works made by schools during some integration-themed educational workshops (included in the project "The Community at the Center") will be inaugurated, in collaboration with the Angels of Beauty. At 2 p. m. instead, there will be a move to the Islamic Cultural Center (at 7 Casteguinelli Street, Figline), to learn about that place through a guided tour and a tea with the association that carries on its activities, the Friends of Valdarno. At 2:30 p.m., however, the appointment is again in Piazza Don Bosco, the starting point of the bike ride organized by Valdarno in bici through the streets of Figline (arrival at the Oratorio Don Bosco in Via Roma). And it is precisely at the Oratory that, starting at 3 p.m., there will be games, soccer matches, workshops and an educational exhibition involving the children of the Figline Comprehensive Institute. All as part of Figline and Incisa in Color, the festival dedicated to cultural integration. From 4 p.m., however, it will be back to Don Bosco Square, where there will be children from Aseba and L'Aquilone center engaged in a live painting demonstration. Alongside them, there will also be Libera and Coop 21, who will curate a series of interactive and non-interactive games. Next, the square will be transformed into a musical stage (6 p.m.) thanks to performances by the Impruneta Youth Choir, in collaboration with the Sphinx and Gorgò association, the Adventist and Orthodox Church Choirs and the Loppiano Migrant Ensemble. It is at the Auser headquarters in Figline (Piazza Don Bosco; 7 p.m.) that participants will be offered an aperitif by Auser and Arci, and then proceed with the screening of a documentary by the Lentopede association. It is a film that tells the story of the inhabitants of Figline and Incisa Valdarno, with the aim of rediscovering the area through the narratives of its citizens. The day will end at 7:30 p.m. with a concert by the Band Freud's Statement Project (Don Bosco Square).
The next co-design meeting, however, is scheduled for May 16, when the associations will work together to synthesize the insights that have emerged and finalize the participatory process.
