Cross-cultural storytelling with "The Missing Rings" from Figline. Volunteers, together with migrants attending the center, will try to engage meeting participants in a short journey between the Balkan and Mediterranean routes through readings from diaries, stories and legends.
MORE INFO ON MISSING RINGS
It is an intercultural center that was founded in Florence in 1997 as an aggregative experience for young Italians and immigrants. Thanks to the increasingly wide-ranging commitment of its volunteers, since 2007 the center can also count on a branch office in Figline and, since 2012, in Pisa.
While in the beginning the main focus of its activities was teaching Italian language to migrants, later the association's aims gradually became defined in the direction of supporting and sustaining them and people living in situations of social and economic marginality.
To date, "The Missing Rings" of Figline hosts adult and minor pupils of various nationalities, from Morocco to Finland. Volunteers offer homework help support for the younger ones and an in-depth study of Italian language and culture for the older ones.
The association promotes the value of volunteerism as active participation derived from awareness of one's choices, knowledge of others and the human, social and cultural context in which one lives.
