Readings at the Il Giardino Community Center, on General Church Square in Figline, return with another "Made in U.S.A." novel. Thursday, Nov. 7 from 4:30 p.m. will begin the read aloud of The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, curated by Angelo Australi.
The novel is a classic of American literature, set in 17th-century Puritan New England. Thestory revolves around Hester Prynne's adultery, her marginalization, marked by the scarlet letter "A" she is condemned to wear on her chest, and her redemption.
The journey through American literature will continue on Thursday, Nov. 21 and Thursday, Dec. 5 (and beyond). The appointments are included in the October-December Literary Agenda calendar(click here to read more).
