On Friday, August 10, at 6 p.m., the night of St. Lawrence is celebrated with an evening walk for experienced walkers in Pian d'Albero, accompanied by environmental guide Oliviero Buccianti and music and stories by the Diesis Teatrango company.
A way to recount what happened 74 years ago by visiting the sites that were the scene of Nazi-Fascist barbarities on the night before the anniversary of the Liberation of Florence (August 11, 1944).
It begins in Piazza del Giaggiolo, with the presentation of the book on the Pian d'Albero massacre, written by Matteo Barucci and published by the municipality, entitled "On the Road to Florence. The Sinigaglia Brigade and the Pian d'Albero massacre of June 20, 1944." The author will be present, beginning his story at Poggio alla Croce and concluding it at the Cavicchi farmhouse in Pian d'Albero.
At 6:30 p.m., we set off for the walk on the CAI trail that, from Poggio alla Croce, leads precisely to the Cavicchi farmhouse in Pian d'Albero. Arrival at the site is expected around 8 p.m., when dinner is also scheduled by the SMS club of Poggio alla Croce and the show "From the mountain you could see the city" by Diesis Teatrango. This will be followed by a nighttime return to Poggio alla Croce at the iris square, where a closing musical performance is planned .
The participation fee, reserved for a maximum of 35 experienced walkers, is 15 euros and includes: organization, accompaniment by an environmental hiking guide, insurance, dinner and show.
The loop route (round trip) is 5.8 km, has medium difficulty and involves a total ascent of 250 meters.
Since a section of the trail is rocky and steep, here is the mandatory equipment for participants: hiking boots, walking sticks, headlamp (which will be distributed at the start) and a one-liter water bottle.
Reservations are also required, by calling 329 3463431 (Oliviero Buccianti, Vagamondo Association) or writing to bucciantioliviero@gmail.com
The event is organized by the municipality, together with Circolo SMS Poggio alla Croce, Gaib Figline, Incisa Red Cross and Prociv Incisa.
