The social center the Garden and the Semmelweis Literary Circle are organizing reading meetings of novels set in the 20-year fascist period. There will be five reading meetings and they will be held, curated by Angelo Australi, every Thursday from June 8 until July 6 from 9:30 p.m. at Il Giardino Social Center.
The last meeting will be held on Thursday, July 6, and will feature a reading of the book "La Teda" by Saverio Strati, with the reading by Paolo Gualandi. The novel is set in a place among the most inaccessible of the Calabrian mountains, where the beauty of nature contrasts with a country marked by misery and despair. Four master masons arrive at the village to build the houses people's houses, an undertaking in which the whole community collaborates. But the flour of the workmanship never arrives, because of the mafia intrigues of the mayor, the political secretary, and the doctor. And anger seethes. The masons who have come from outside incite a revolt, which will flare up in a dramatic finale..
All meetings are free of charge and are held under the patronage of the City of Figline and Incisa Valdarno.
