A double publication on the theme of Pian d'Albero. This will be the theme of the meeting that will be held Saturday, April 21 at Figline Praetorian Palace, starting at 5 p.m.
The municipality, in fact, promoted the publication of two volumes (a comic strip and a book) dedicated to the history of Pian d'Albero where, inside a still existing farmhouse, the Nazi massacre of June 20, 1944, took place. It was on that date that about 30 people lost their lives, including 12-year-old Aronne Cavicchi: all partisans belonging to the Senigaglia Brigade, surprised by the Germans while they were taking refuge in the farmhouse owned by the Cavicchi family, in the hills of the town, in front of which every year institutional events are held to honor their memory.
THE COMIC - It is almost 50 pages of illustrated story, funded by the Municipality of Figline and Incisa Valdarno, signed by Pierpaolo Putignano and published by Kleiner Flug (2017). A way to tell, through a light format, one of the most tragic episodes in the history of the territory and to make it known to the youngest. For in-depth historical study of the event, on the other hand, research carried out by Matteo Barucci and Gabriele Mori (commissioned by the previous Administration) was used, which, under the direction of the Historical Institute of the Resistance, was published in the volume entitled "On the Road to Florence. The Sinigaglia Brigade and the Massacre of Pian d'Albero - June 20, 1944."
THE VOLUME - The research has just been published with Pacini editore publishing house and was printed in December 2017. It is a 200-page in-depth study signed by Matteo Barucci, a librarian and member of the Tuscan Historical Institute of Resistance, as well as a contributor to the contemporary history portal ToscanaNovecento(www.toscananovecento.it) and the research project l'Atlante delle stragi naziste e fasciste in Italia (www.straginazifasciste.it).
THE APRIL 21 MEETING - The April 21 meeting will be attended by: the author of the historical volume, Matteo Barucci; the president of the Historical Institute of Resistance and Contemporary Age, Simone Neri Serneri; cartoonist Pierpaolo Putignano; and a representative of the Kleiner Flug publishing house.
This is one of the reading promotion events included in the review entitled "Literary Agenda for a Reading Community," which through May includes a series of events dedicated to children and adults.
It is recalled that the festival is organized by the City Council in collaboration with Conkarma, Fanin Circle, Il Giardino Association, BiblioCoop Reading Point and Zimmer Club Association.
