Many initiatives are planned in Figline and Incisa Valdarno to commemorate the 71st anniversary of the Italian Liberation from Nazifascism. The celebrations will start as early as 23 April from the Ridotto of the Garibaldi Theatre (Piazza Serristori, Figline), with the performance "Una questione privata" by Beppe Fenoglio, by the Cantiere Artaud theatre company (5.30 p.m.).
Immediately afterwards, at 6.30 p.m., the catalogue entitled '1915-2015 The World Goes to War' will be presented: a true account of the project of the same name - realised by the municipality from May to November 2015 - designed to celebrate the centenary of Italy's entry into the First World War. All this in the presence of the Mayor of Figline and Incisa Valdarno Giulia Mugnai and theCouncillor for Culture Mattia Chiosi, who will introduce the catalogue.
On 25 April, instead, the celebrations will start at 9 a.m. from Figline, where the gathering of the authorities and the combatant, military and volunteer associations (in Piazza IV Novembre) is scheduled, and will then proceed with the laying of wreaths in Piazza Bianchi, Piazza Averani and Via Sarri, in front of the monument The Tree of the Universe. The morning of celebrations will be accompanied by speeches by the mayor, Giulia Mugnai, and the president of Anpi, Cristoforo Ciracì. The president of the municipal council Cristina Simoni will also be present. Following this, the Combatant Associations will lay bouquets of flowers on the graves of the Martyrs of the Resistance (9.30 a.m.).
At10.00 a.m., the celebrations will also be repeated in Incisa, with the laying and blessing of the wreath in front of the war memorial in Piazza Mazzanti, also here in the presence of the mayor and the president of the ANPI, who will give a brief celebratory speech. At 10.30 a.m., there will be the traditional concertentitled "Bella Ciao", which will be performed by the "Shumann" association of Figline and the "Arci" association of Incisa (conducted by maestro Franco Berti) and the "Alessandri" choir (conducted by maestro Paolo Mugnai). At the end of the morning, a wreath will be laid in front of the memorial stone dedicated to Salvo d'Acquisto, in the square of the same name in Incisa, by the Combatant and Weapons Associations (11.30 a.m.).
For theafternoon's initiatives, on the other hand, we will move to the 'Il Giardino' social centre (via Roma, Figline) to take part in the Feast of the 'Aronne Cavicchi' section of theNational Association of Italian Partisans. Starting at 3.30 p.m., the programme includes the screening of the film 'Miracle at St. Anna' by Spike Lee, the concert by the 'Desinarensemble' and a buffet offered by the ANPI to all participants. The celebrations will then close at the Palazzo Pretorio (Piazza San Francesco, Figline) with a guided tour of the 'Venti di guerra' (Winds of War) exhibition, which will remain on display until 30 April. The appointment is at 7 p.m. with the ArcheoClub association, which will accompany visitors on a discovery of relics, documents and testimony on the theme of the Second World War.
