Arena Summer Fest - Music
Letizia Fuochi sings Chavela Vargas.
Letizia Fuochi, a Florentine singer-songwriter and actress, linked to the form of the theater-song and original interpreter of songwriting, with the album Fuegos Y Chavela-the second produced by Materiali Sonori-proposes an act of profound gratitude to an authentic, total, complete artist, capable of resembling as much as possible the dream she had of herself.
Chavela Vargas was able to break the silence of solitude and transform it into the highest and supreme act of freedom. Shaman, cantor and great Latin American artist (Mexican-born Costa Rican born in 1919 and passed away in 2012), an inspirational muse of passions, legends and humanity.
Letizia Fuochi, in her narrative concert, traces the story of this fascinating and rebellious woman capable of enchanting some of the leading figures of contemporary art in her long life: from Frida Kahlo to Pedro Almodóvar, Ava Gardner, Liz Tayor, Joaquin Sabina and many others. A journey that starts in South America and arrives in Spain during the 1930s, turns to Cuba and lands in Mexico: the verses of Pablo Neruda and Federico Garcia Lorca, the Residencia and the anti-fascist Resistance of intellectuals during the Spanish Civil War, the poetry of ranchera music and the freedom to follow oneself in a game of mirrors of the soul. Darkness and light to make themselves through an invisible, powerful and universal language: the will to believe and survive one's dreams.
