On Saturday, May 5, at 5 p.m., the Ficino Library (Via Locchi, Figline) will host the presentation of Vanni Santoni's latest book, titled "The Empire of Dreams ."
This is singular and hilarious urban fantasy, set between Tuscany and the dream universe, which plays - as well as with genres - with narrative stylistic devices from 1980s cinema and video games, dragging the reader on a grand ride on the caravan of dreams. Indeed, the tale centers on the adventures of the protagonist, who makes unexpected alliances, fights against fantastic creatures, steals mythological weapons and takes care of a child-empress.
The author Vanni Santoni, born in 1978 in Montevarchi but living in Florence, will be present. After his debut with Personaggi precari he published, among others, the novels Gli interessi in comune (Feltrinelli, 2008), Se fossi fuoco, arderei Firenze (Laterza, 2011), In territorio nemico (minimum fax, 2013, from coordinator), Muro di casse (Laterza, 2015), La stanza profonda (Laterza, 2017, candidate for the Strega Prize). For Mondadori he is the author of Terra igno ta (2013) and Terra ignota 2. Le figlie del rito (2014). He writes in the Corriere della Sera.
The presentation - curated by ZimmerClub Association - is part of a calendar of reading promotion events entitled "Literary Agenda for a Reading Community," scheduled in various gathering places in the city through the end of May .
